The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 粤语场。难以客观评价的一部电影，而且纪念意义远大于商业意义。优缺点都很明显，不过女主作为纯新人，表现比想象中好，也算惊喜了(侧脸挺像)；比较失望的是Leslie的选角。有些个人认为不应该被美化的角色的还是被美化了；而许多当年跟她亲近的好友都还在也就无法一一提及，即使有也要么是间接提及或是直接出现在老录像中(比如我头像中的两位)。最后还是要说：阿梅，想你。

【2.0】看的是导演剪辑版。流水账的传记片思路和当下港片的电视剧式剪辑还不是此片最严重的问题，核心问题是导演完全没抓住梅艳芳之所以成为香港娱乐圈传奇人物的那个“之所以”，这是一部沉溺于对梅艳芳的缅怀和树碑立传，但对她的浮沉经历和心路都毫无热情和兴趣的电影。

使用拍摄和录像交织的方式，讲述了梅艳芳的一生。看完以后，令我非常感动。我们都既渴望天赋，又希望拥有顺遂平淡的一生。直到我们接受了上苍给予我们的使命，负重前行，我们的生命才得到了真正的圆满，灵魂得以充盈。
她沒有驚艷的外貌音色，也受困過無端是非，感情路上也是折戟沈沙鐵，但仍是香港樂壇的傳奇人物，Anita的耿介個性、多變造型、時代擔當、仗義同行、獎掖後進是一股難得的清流。《夕陽之歌》實在是世紀絕唱。在電影院看粵語版也算是沈浸式了。我所記得的Mui的兩個小插曲，一是她來春晚唱《床前明月光》，一是她在《鍾無艷》反串齊王。【PolyBB】
劇情其實非常碎片，往往一段沒有講完就進入下一段。劉培基應該特別傷心，先後看著兩位巨星朋友離世，白髮人送黑髮人。男主其實就是香港這所城市吧，所有對8090年代流行文化感興趣的人都會在這部片裡找到共鳴，追憶那個群星璀璨的黃金年代的同時一片唏噓。
陆中百丽宫9厅。许鞍华说她有commitment to香港，来自不同阶层的梅艳芳也有，对舞台，或者说entertainment，所以你能看到夜总会现场那种短兵交接的残酷，一切现开销，这种浓缩的环境只有高速发展的时代能承载，体现在拿来拿去的创作、飞来飞去的际会和人来人去的交心，所以电影的失败也是它的成功，毕恭毕敬、原文附注地拍，倒是满足了那代人想要留下的东西：一个未必完整、但高光的身影，当这种commitment被生命压缩为婚纱的夕阳之歌时，没人顶的住这种能量。事实上也没人接得了，氛围变了，武行也好艺人也好，生涯都不再押上人生，搏命就像博物馆文物，拿钱赌自己，不如炒币，就像今天观影，其他观众连不看手机的commitment都做不到，从这点说，夕阳的也是一个时代。BTW短发罗丹妮更像袁泉……
3、喜欢结尾的星光字幕，讨厌片头的花式主演字幕
我知道的香港人的英文名只有Leslie，Eason，Edison。然后这几天Anita这个名字一直钉在脑海里。很遗憾，梅艳芳菲竟然没有粤语版。然后Anita有杜比全景声的厅排的是国语版，我最后放弃了杜比看的普通厅粤语版。声音体验差了很多，演唱会很明显氛围起不来。华谊的IMAX也不排片。但是我依然从她唱的第一句“吹啊吹啊“眼泪就流下来。后面夕阳之歌反而还好。看电影之前我单曲循环了夕阳之歌两天。这两部电影确实有不少故意煽情，但我也真是哭的稀里哗啦。感谢Anita。
作为我最喜欢的香港女歌手和演员，王丹妮给我的感觉整体还是柔弱了些，但她演得还算满意。从电影来说，只是对她的人生中的重要事件做了个梳理，细节方面差强人意。
和课题组人一起看的，女主角演到最后越来越像梅姐，风华绝代。

观影前我并不知道梅艳芳是谁，但当我随着影片过完她的一生，了解了她和小哥的故事后，我为之动容。从那些真实的片段里，我感受到，她一定是一位更侠义、更坚定、更有风韵的时代巨星，影片里的她定不及半分。
不知道该如何评价。优点缺点都挺明显，更像是一份精美的纪念梅姐的纪念品。电影上来说，能表达的重要节点都表达了，不能表达的也没办法。当然也没必要，毕竟不是纪录片。能被梅姐的经历以及每个人物所感动。但是这种什么都想兼顾的故事线，最后的感觉就是没有一个内容是深刻的。每个细节都做到了尽量的真实和还原，正因为如此，艺术性上就削弱了很多
傳記片來說，主角是扮得不錯，但感覺上就是平舖直敘的故事，可能梅艷芳實在是太經典吧。
2004年第23届香港电影金像奖有一个特殊奖项——演艺光辉永恒大奖，获奖者有两位，分别是梅艳芳和张国荣。
不该被呈现的如此扁平无力
