The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 希尔达与巨魔小孩交换后，亲自感受了巨魔的生活，对巨魔有更多的了解，才会设身处地的理解他们。巨魔的每天的生活是游荡、冥想、扔对方，好惬意的生活啊，不想人类社会需要上课、上班种种，他们的天性如此自由。最后看到巨魔母亲，从没有任何阻力阻止她坐起来，但是为了不伤害人类，她选择在这里永远的躺下。哎，多么善良慈悲的巨魔母亲啊，比起母爱我更感动于这种慈悲万物的爱。虽然最后还是和谐相处了，但巨魔母亲估计永远就要这样躺着了吧。人类占据了本该属于巨魔的家园，却立下规矩让巨魔遵守，多想让小镇搬迁到另外的地方啊。 另外，今天意外发现，希尔达里面的人物还蛮反刻板印象的，活泼调皮的女孩Hilda、胆小细腻的David、精英黑人女孩Frida，必须赞一个。
低龄，温暖、爱意。整体浅显直白，部分段落台词有点意思。
勇敢且善良，是部很好的孩子学习英语观赏电影
这个故事紧接着第二季的末尾，没看过剧的话会有点摸不到头脑。整体的气氛偏沉重和恐惧，没有第一季的开朗和灵气，只是补全的话可以看一下，但是如果期待的是第一季那样的梦幻故事会有点失望。格局有点刻意拔高，但是依旧有一些能让我觉得很感动的地方。整体3星，为了希尔达加一星。
重新崇尚自然，认大地为万物万灵的母亲：聆听得到母亲低语的地方长出植被，缺少母亲教导的地方才有纷争，人类在地面上建立的文明都是可以等到终结的一瞬，各种围墙、制度都像是天被地床间的一场过家家。希尔达第一季就讲了人类和精灵的关系：人类因为看不见小小的精灵，会随意地（无知地）侵犯精灵的家园，其实对于大地母亲来说人也是一样弱小，但母亲选择包容。作者是个了不起的人，不知道他是不是也有一位了不起的母亲，因为在他创造的世界里母亲和女性是这么的强大温柔……当然，也可以用幼教片的视角去看：尊重妈妈的爱，时不时地倾听妈妈的叮嘱，这些与自由奔跑并不冲突。
希尔达重拍了《进击的巨人》和《沼泽地的女儿》，爱产生力量，爱战胜一切。
看似一部简单的儿童动画，表面上是一个人类小孩和山怪宝宝调包的故事，背后却是对母爱的伟大歌颂，自然母亲对人类的包容，以及人与自然和谐相处的思考

时长对于这个故事偏长。缺少剧集里对于神秘生物的新鲜感，毕竟第二季最后已经展示了这类生物的生活了。唯一一种贯穿全片的生物。对于被殖民，是夺回被占领的地方，还是搁下仇恨和平生活？非我族类其心必异的思想注定不会让不同生物之间敞开心扉。
巨魔想进城看望妈妈有什么错呢，了原来就是人类打扰了人家的生活。机灵又勇敢的小朋友们最可爱了，秃顶警长真是够了…
进击的…山怪，山丘之王和他哥的做法都没错，一个主张进攻，一个默守老母的牺牲，人类要是早点考虑城市搬迁，何必和山怪斗这么多年。

怪诞小镇画风，故事框架跟《狼行者》有点像，都是串着亲情线讲人与自然的冲突与和谐，相对来说更喜欢《狼行者》，逻辑更流畅。《希尔达》独眼说没就没，从眼睛里看到母亲就停止战争这一点，情感变化似乎还是有些跳跃了。
