The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. The deal: one night of freedom, no strings attached, no questions asked. Could a freebie be the cure for their ailing sex life? And will they go through with it? 一人一狗一世界，对，是机器人。突然觉得这种躲着人过日子的感觉还挺好的？
电影的故事和手法一点都不新鲜，但汤姆·汉克斯的精湛表演和影片细腻的情感刻画让《芬奇》感人至深。
人制造AI机器人只是为了在过身后照顾宠物狗，实在太善良了；而当末日来临的时候，确实需要这种简单纯真的「圣愚」，如果说人类还有希望则尽在其中。
—末日题材往往太重末日，轻情感。此片有点《我是传奇》和《机器人总动员》的感观。
观感舒适，缓而不燥。质感好细节足，讲好了一个末日不独存的故事。

近年来，电影里的机器人/人工智能越发善良，而到了《芬奇》这里，机器人不仅善解人意，甚至对于“我是谁”这个问题都没有了困惑，进而表现出对于人类坚定且毫无保留的爱。现在这个时刻，人类太需要这样的爱了。
这是一部中国人最能共情的电影。托孤的故事，千年前，就被写进了书里，变成了现在四大名著的一部分，成为中国人的集体血脉。

童话故事了，不需要和其他人类拼命的废土科幻能有什么意思。但公路旅行永远浪漫的，世界末日也要压着双黄线一路向西，再忙也记得给自己搞件大衣。
