The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 想到了高中午后趴在教室最后一排的窗户边听《拥抱》，戴的是有线耳机，阳光非常好，树叶繁密茂盛，男孩女孩们午饭后沿着学校的柏油路散步。非常美好，这部电影也是非常美好，“勇敢”是一个很美好的内核。
通俗但共情。接受即使乖乖学习考上985、211，未来却也平凡无趣的自己。接受理想世界爱情的纯粹，生活却很难。接受再“优秀”的我，爱的人也不爱我。
喜欢这样不完美也很好的青春故事，虽然这经历依旧不普通，但氛围有到。
三星半 还是挺喜欢的，有很多巧思，张子枫成年许愿是 勇敢（片尾致辞也是）对应学校的名字 永安，后者通过监控、控制更象征着什么不言而喻。靠对校园青春爱情片这一类型的解构来道出郑宇兴的性取向也很棒，先靠类型tropes建立男女爱情的期待，再靠打破类型期待道出会被审查的信息、一直被这一类型抹灭的信息，很有力量。张子枫表现得实在太好了。所有的成长发生在学校之外，而孩子们需要面对的课题，成人们又何尝不是。家长会见面曲老师“诊断”子枫高考失利的原因在学术、在发挥，子枫打着点滴高考更加强“病人”这一信息，背后真正的“病”是什么，真正的prescription又是什么，电影还算交出了坦诚、勇敢的答案。
超出预期。意外的不落俗套，有清晰的生活质感，也有青春期懵懂和成长阵痛。
好看，陈正道还是会拍这种小情绪的东西～故事还是挺有原创性的。
清新的尴尬，些许虚假也难掩更多的真挚。Ming这样安排实在太妙了。两位主角也很搭，张子枫笑起来像早期的杨千嬅。80
算是中国青春片中稍微不那么俗套的一部了。但是张子枫真的是撑不起门面的气质，纯属个人喜好。
哪有什么未来；子枫真棒，没想到的是吴磊的少年气竟然已经消失殆尽；(那些想要动人的时刻总是拍的尴尬；)(陈正道还是夹带了他的私货；)
整个电影充满动感，运动王国的氛围打造得相当真实，不少fancy cut还是能吓你一跳的。可惜故事跳不出俗套，训练过程冗长，显疲态。桑德勒依然不错。
意外的好看。有时张扬有时隐忍，真是耀眼的青春啊。在如今的环境里，还能做出这样的电影，十分难得，创作者很厉害。吴磊饰演的男生，哭了好几次，男生也可以脆弱。而张子枫演的女生，倔强又易感的眼神，令人十分动容。最喜欢的一个场景是他们穿过重重彩色飘带去到音乐节现场，欢笑声，喧闹声，到处都是人。对照今天新冠的情况，也不知道什么时候能再有这样的时刻了。陈正道别拍花架子悬疑片了，再给其他弟弟妹妹拍点青春片吧。8月3日于影院
不愧是《盛夏光年》的导演，用这样的方式来讲一个不能说的故事，大开眼界。
这运镜这画面，真的美啊，让我想起了已经要被遗忘的高中的种种瞬间。影片看到一半，郑宇星“要是我也喜欢你就好了”那句就像给我喂了💩，但看到最后释然了。大哥，你们营销了大半年张子枫和吴磊的cp，结果暗戳戳挂羊头卖狗肉，我能理解，但也请cp粉和直女直男们尽快到达战场😊
很不错的青春片，可能是宣传片营销bg 太多让一些人感觉被诈骗。“如果在未来，我们喜欢的人也喜欢我们，那该多好啊”。喜欢张子枫的角色，勇敢真诚沉静通透，郝蕾还是那么那么美。另外，吴磊那个角色绝对是gay啊，暗示得超明显了，字幕的女他完全是欲盖弥彰，看完感觉他还挺适合演同志电影的，赶紧下海吧哈哈哈
富二代就可以上快班，我笑了；学霸暗恋的是长得帅的，我又笑了；最后富二代喜欢DJ还是个Gay，这点我认同~哈哈哈哈哈好哈哈哈哈哈！！

而国产青春片的模样也正在从堕胎、车祸、绝症、暴力过渡到了一场场z世代的自由主义、浪漫主义和消费主义的拼盘秀。其中，人与人之间的情感部分也不那么炙热了，大家更关心自我的表达、成长与未来的维度。无关好好坏坏，只是时代变了，仅此而已。
亮点1:被暗恋的人亲了也不代表对方一定喜欢自己。
很多人骂借bg卖bl擦边球，我倒觉得故事本来就是想说，不论哪种感情，亲情、爱情、友情，不管你爱的是偶像、同类、还是那个人，无论对象是男是女，是亲人是朋友，都有美好、悲伤、嫉妒、遗憾、不甘，爱比我们以为得更复杂。
