The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 喜剧部分不错，灾难部分就一般吧，为灾难片真的会突然死人加半星

电影是部好电影，比很多院线上映的拍的都好！
除去结局后的末尾10分钟还挺精彩的，煽情有点乐意，感觉导演好像在用灾难套路，但是有点失败了。光洙上了太多综艺，观众对他没有新鲜感？自带喜剧效果
剧情太奇幻，得有多少水才能填满一个无底的天坑呢？
要啥没啥的灾难片。前半段节奏太慢铺垫太长，无处不在的那个男配角色也很莫名其妙，最后还顶上了锃亮的主角光环。结尾的房车也太韩综了。
后面过分了。扣分！还有，另一个男孩是怎样死的？？
李光洙一出场我已经开始笑了
物理逻辑的不合理就不聊了，当时超现实童话看即可。中间有一段没看懂是怎么回事。感觉是已经去世的小男孩灵魂引着主角儿子活下来了？
整部片最可怕的是韩国人毕生急需拿来买房，房子没了，最后也没说补偿的事。
超高成本喜剧片了属于是，有不少桥段确实挺逗，还是值得一看的

……整体是一部喜剧片……可那个单亲妈妈的小孩，没得让我很懵……奶奶的儿子为了我保护麻麻牺牲了说得过去，可是二楼那个小孩……一起带出来不行么……这部电影还是看看解说就可以了……不过修灿真的很可爱，每次见面都认认真真的打招呼
前半段还可以，后边忒胡扯了，先不说城里那么深的井怎么来的，盖房子不打地基也就算了，怎么就正好在洞上，出事了不找生还者还喝上了……这救援队除了送点物资啥也没干，全靠自救啊……
就非常吵非常儿戏。主创根本就没当灾难片来拍。还是娱乐性喜剧化先行的。强制圆满，巨大的主角光环。
灾难喜剧还是第一次看，一些硬伤被喜剧元素冲淡，感人的部分也没有过分煽情。
普普通通的剧情，综艺真的可以消耗一个演员的弧光。
